Film City Futures worked with a range of community and youth organisations on Projector filmmaking projects, which took place both in community venues and within Film City Glasgow.
This project also involved holding introductory workshops and activities, giving participants a taster into the filmmaking process.
In recent years, Projector collaborated on two projects with the Youth Community Support Agency (YCSA) based in Pollokshields, developed a short film with South Lanarkshire Council on the region’s mining heritage, and organised a music video project, led by top industry mentors, in conjunction with Glasgow Music Studios.
Knock, Knock
In early 2016 our partner Urbancroft Films worked closely with the project’s key workers to design a flexible programme while ensuring accessibility and support for all of the participants. The group undertook all aspects of developing ideas, writing and shooting a short film Knock, Knock, which involved filming in their local area and at Film City Glasgow.
PITS, PONIES, PEOPLE AND STORIES
Alongside Urbancroft Films, Film City Futures was commissioned by South Lanarkshire Council to make a short film celebrating the mining heritage of the area.
On That Day, was devised and created by a group of young women from the Carluke Nurture Group.

ENGENDER
During 2013-14, Film City Futures partnered with Urbancroft Films on a project funded by Engender. This supported four young women from diverse backgrounds to make their own documentary films about young women and sectarianism in Scotland. Mentors included Ruth Reid.
MUSIC VIDEO PROJECT
In late 2013, we were commissioned to run a music video project in conjunction with Glasgow Music Studios, and in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council.
The project mentors were Forest of Black, who have produced music videos for some of the top names in music, including Belle and Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand, and Biffy Clyro. This project continued until March 2014 and two music videos were produced. The project worked with young carers and looked after children.
Two of the young people who took part in this project went on to take part in BBC Radio 1 Academy, with Jumpcut and professionals from Waterloo Road.
