This Business Lab will be delivered by industry experts with extensive experience of growing businesses through mergers, acquisitions, co-production partnerships, first look deals and more in both the UK and internationally.
The sessions will offer industry perspectives, workshops and 1-2-1s all designed to help you understand how strategic partnerships work and to create a business plan and prospectus to help move your company forward.
FOCUS Business Lab: Partnerships & Structures will cover:
Challenges and opportunities presented by different types of partnerships
In-depth analysis of formal and informal types of partnerships
Examples of successful and unsuccessful strategic partnerships
Identifying your own company’s plans for growth
Structuring strategic partnerships legally, contractually and financially
Effectively negotiating deals
Assignments to help you plan for your company’s strategic partnerships
Business Lab: Partnerships & Structures is a hands-on Lab that will give you an opportunity to create a business plan and prospectus whist receiving guidance and direct feedback from industry experts during in-depth 1-2-1 sessions.
The Lab will take place will take place on Tuesday 8th, Wednesday 9th and Tuesday 15th June. 1-2-1 sessions will take place on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th June, and Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd July. The deadline for submitting your assignment is Friday 25th June.
Ten participants will be selected to take part in the Lab and all sessions will be held on Zoom.
All participants and speakers will be expected to have signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement prior to attendance.
Sessions will be led by Caroline Murphy (Head of the Indie Growth Fund at Channel 4), Debbie Manners (Investment Director at Station 12), Edward Lane (Associate at Harbottle & Lewis), Jane Turton (CEO at All3Media), Robin Chalmers (Chief Legal Counsel at All3Media), and Steven Brown (Group Director at All3Media).
Guest speakers will include David Mortimer (Managing Director at STV Studios), Alan Clements (Managing Director at Two Rivers Media), Ken Anderson (Creative Director at Wild Child Animation), Laurence Bowen (CEO at Dancing Ledge Productions), and Michael McKiernan (Finance Director at Wild Child Animation).

During the Business Lab you will spend time:
Learning from industry experts
Formulating your business plan and prospectus
Undertaking 1-2-1 in-depth surgeries
Receiving feedback on your business plan and prospectus
Away from the Lab you will be expected to develop your company’s business plan and prospectus and you’ll receive support and feedback during the two 1-2-1 sessions.
You will be expected to attend all workshop days and complete all tasks set by the speakers in between.

The cost of FOCUS Business Lab: Partnerships & Structures is £150 (excl. VAT) per company.
Companies selected to participate will be invoiced one week before the Business Lab and must pay in full before participating.
