FOCUS Business Labs are a new opportunity for companies to work with expert consultants and FOCUS peers in a small group setting, to help them advance their business skills.
Business lab OUTLINE
Business Labs are opportunities for screen companies to drill down into specific areas of business management and gain contacts, knowledge and support to strengthen their company performance. We will be hosting two FOCUS Business Labs in September 2020:
FOCUS Business Lab: SVOD took place online from Wednesday 9th to Thursday 10th of September 2020.
FOCUS Business Lab: International Sales and Co-production took place online on Monday 14th September 2020.
FOCUS Business Lab: Non-Scripted Development took place Wednesday 24th February, Wednesday 3rd March and Wednesday 10th March.
FOCUS Business Lab: Scripted Development took place over four days on Monday 19th, Tuesday 20th, Monday 26th and Friday 30th April.
FOCUS Business Lab: Partnerships & Structures will take place over Tuesday 8th, Wednesday 9th and Tuesday 15th June. 1-2-1s will take place on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th June, and Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd July.
who can apply and How many spaces are available?
Any Scotland-based film or TV production companies we welcome to apply, as long as they meet the Application Criteria.
Ten spaces will be made available for each Business Lab, with priority given to the FOCUS cohort - this includes companies that took part in the FOCUS Pilot, the MG ALBA opportunity or Bootcamp.
The Business Labs are geared towards those with a foothold in the sector who would like to learn more about a specific industry-focused topic in order to effectively develop their company.
Companies will be able to apply for more than one Lab.
COSTS AND HOW TO PAY
FOCUS will pay 50% of the cost of delivering each Business Lab, with the remaining 50% split between the eight participating companies. Companies will be invoiced one week before each Business Lab and must pay in full before participating.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Places on the Business Labs are strictly limited. To ensure that the opportunity is being taken by the companies most likely to benefit from the support, we will ask you to outline what you would like to achieve from the Lab in the application form. From all eligible applications received, participants will be selected according to the following criteria:
