Ulla has worked as MD, Director of Production and Operations in television and film for over 20 years and is an experienced manager with a track record of running creative teams and achieving company growth. As part of the Senior Management Team at Darlow Smithson Productions for 17 years until 2013, Ulla worked on features including the Bafta winning Touching the Void, EMMY nominated Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking, Thriller in Manila and BAFTA nominated Richard III: The King in the Car Park as well as numerous series of factual programming for the US and International market.
As Director of Operations at Darlow Smithson Productions Ulla was responsible for devising and executing business plans during the period when the company turnover grew from 3 to 20 million. DSP was sold twice during this time and she was instrumental in negotiating the sales and managing the integration of the company to new owners. Ulla oversaw all of DSP’s international output and was responsible for the successful delivery of all their programmes.
Since leaving Darlow Smithson Productions, Ulla has used her extensive knowledge and expertise to set up and consult on start ups such as Lightbox, EOS Films and Caravan Media.
Ulla joined one of her start ups, Talesmith Ltd, in January 2016 as COO - helping Martin Williams, the Founder of Talesmith, lay the foundations for an ambitious growth plan.
