Head of Acquisitions – Cineflix Rights
Richard Life is Head of Acquisitions at Cineflix Rights, one of the world’s leading independent international distribution companies and a division of Canada’s production giant Cineflix Media. Appointed in 2018, he has worked for over 25 years in the international television production, finance and distribution business with some of the best-known creators of scripted and non-scripted content in the UK, North America, and Australia.
As Head of Acquisitions, Richard manages the company’s multimillion-dollar annual investment in scripted and unscripted content from third-party producers around the world, which results in the exclusive global distribution by Cineflix Rights of hundreds of new hours of each year.
Previously, Richard worked for a number of independent producers including Toronto’s Cream Productions, where he helped to develop, finance and produce several series and specials for networks in the US, UK and beyond including hits true crime series Fear thy Neighbour and adventure travel series Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan.
Prior to that, Richard was Head of Acquisitions & Co-productions at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, the distribution arm of UK broadcaster and global studio ITV. There, he managed ITVSGE’s development and co-financing investments for a wide range of content from UK, US, and international independent producers; including hit factual series River Monsters and I Shouldn’t Be Alive, and dramas including Titanic and Australia’s most successful returning drama The Dr Blake Mysteries
Richard joined ITV in 2007 from UK broadcaster Channel 4, where he was as Head of Programming at its global division C4i. He was responsible for raising millions of pounds in co-production finance and for acquiring all content for distribution at C4i. Richard has also produced documentaries and factual entertainment for UK independent producers such as September Films and Wall to Wall Television and spent several years as News Editor of the UK’s TV trade magazine Broadcast.
