Forest of Black has built a reputation making diverse and creative films for the music industry from promos to concert films and music documentary. Working consistently with high-profile UK and International artists including Biffy Clyro, Franz Ferdinand and Twin Atlantic and labels including Universal, Warner, Sony BMG, Domino & Rough Trade. Recent commissioned work includes music video Poor Boy for Belle & Sebastian, Directed by Ciaran Lyons and Oscar Sansom as well as promotional content for Scottish Ballet Directed by Michael Sherrington and commercials with Glasgow Life, Frame and Leith Agency.
The company continues to expand and focus on its own creative content with a slate of short, feature and broadcast projects in development and production. Feature doc Girls of Cults by Marie Lidén, supported by Creative Scotland, The Lost Girl Groups of Scotland by Blair Young and We Are All Here a mid length doc currently in production directed by Hannah Currie. The company are working with the BBC on a music show for the new Scottish channel and Ciaran Lyons Directed his first narrative short The Motorist in October 2018 which is now in post-production.
Senior producer Beth Allan participated in the Eurodoc programme for international documentary co-production in 2018 and is heading to IDFA 2018 as part of the Academy programme.
