In 2018 Hamish started Freak Productions to focus on producing exciting original broadcast projects. Since then the company has won several commissions including the 4 part BBC Scotland documentary Arctic Academy, the BBC Scotland single doc Playing The Game: Garry O'Conner, and the forthcoming CBeebies series Tiny Wonders.

Hamish has been working in the television and film post-production business for over 28 years while directing commercials, corporate films and music videos for over 24 years. He has been involved in editing and creating graphics for literally thousands of commercials, while he has been asked to direct them for many prestigious clients, such as the Scottish Government, VisitScotland, Grolsch, Adidas and The Edinburgh International Festival.

In 2003 Hamish started Freakworks which was and still is, Edinburgh’s only broadcast post facility. Over the past 10 years, Allison has also developed Freak Films, a production company that works across commercials, corporate branding and bespoke high-res, immersive or interactive projects for museums and exhibitions.

Freak Films list many international clients across the globe as well as at home. From Heineken, JCB and Standard Life, to Historic Environment Scotland, Whyte & Mackay, Irn Bru and the National Museum of Scotland.

The company is currently developing a slate of other factual features, formats, and children’s’ projects for broadcasters.
